Performing Fluxus scores at White Cube, London

Performing Fluxus scores at White Cube, London

As part of Christian Marclay's solo exhibition at White Cube Bermondsey in 2015, I performed several iterations of two classic Fluxus scores over the course of two days, most notably holding a wine glass of frozen water for nearly an hour until the ice had completely melted (see photo above, and the New York Times review below).

Yoko Ono's Water (1964):

Steal a moon on the water with a bucket.
Keep stealing until no moon is seen on
the water.

On 4 March 2015, I performed Yoko Ono's Fluxus score 'Water' (1964) in various scenarios in the White Cube gallery, Bermondsey, London. This is an excerpt of one of the performances. The score: "Steal a moon on the water with a bucket. Keep stealing until no moon is seen on the water."

Mieko Shiomi's Water Music (1965):

1. Give the water still form
2. Let the water lose its still form

On 13 February 2015, I performed Mieko Shiomi's Fluxus score 'Water Music' in various scenarios for four hours in the White Cube gallery, Bermondsey, London. This is an excerpt of one of the performances. Shiomi's score consists of a bottle filled with water, containing the following instructions: 1. Give the water still form 2. Let the water lose its still form
